One might say Fiva was involved in Pottery from birth: she was born a year before her mother opened Dover Pottery in Seagrove, NC. Her mother moved a crib for Fiva into her studio so she could both work and watch her daughter.  Fiva grew up decorating pots and like the rest of her family, is a true renaissance woman: she studied anthropology at NC State, has an associate degree in advertising and graphic design from Randolph Community College, and is a recorded musician.

Fiva’s colorful work and innovative designs illustrate her wide variety of interests – from pop culture to mythology to ufology – and she enjoys creating characters and stories within her pieces.  She works under the moniker, “Three Legged Cat” in honor of her cat Thomas, who’s resilience taught her to keep going and do the best you can – no matter what life throws at you.

Fiva is part of the prestigious, juried, invitational Fearrington Folk Art Show. This February event is an exhibition and sale of widely diverse artwork from self-taught Southern artists. Fearrington has a reputation for bringing together a diverse group of artists who represent some of the best, most unique work to be found in the outsider art world. Fiva’s work can also be found at Dover Pottery and All in One Pottery in Seagrove, NC, as well as, Brightside Gallery in Asheboro, NC.

Her vibrant style ushers in the next generation of potters living and working in Seagrove.  When she’s not hard at work in the studio, she enjoys going for walks in the woods with her puppy Oliver, drinking too much coffee, and binging on Netflix while she draws.
